Instagram is a popular social media service that allows users to upload and share images and videos with their friends and followers. The app has more than 100 million users as of September 2018, who use it to keep tabs on what their friends are up to, check out the latest trends, or simply connect with old friends. If you have Instagram, you’ll know that it can be a little tricky at times. Not only do your followers expect you to keep your privacy when posting images and videos, but they also expect you to respond quickly when they follow your account or add you as a friend. Because once they follow you, they can see all of your posts from that moment on! This can be time-consuming for both parties involved. Fortunately, there are ways to delete Instagram messages quickly and easily that don’t require having to contact them directly.

Disabling or blocking followers on Instagram

If you find that some of your followers are getting in the way of your posts, you can easily turn off followers on Instagram and have your space back. To do this, head to Setting and select “ followers” from the “ accounts you manage. From here, you can choose to “block followers” or “unblock followers.” Block and “unblock” followers are two different things. A “block” is simply a switch on the right-hand side that you can turn on and off to prevent certain people from following you. A “unblock” request is more complex and can be used to “approve” or “reject” the request of someone you don’t want following you. This is a little more involved and can be done under the “ Contacts & messages” section.

Direct messaging your followers

If you find that you’re getting a lot of messages from followers, it’s probably because you’re blocking them or not responding quickly enough. To direct message your followers directly, open the “More” menu in the top-right-hand corner of the page and select “ Follow this person.” This will pop up a menu with the option to “ Messenger,” “ Instagram,” or “ emails.” From here, you can start a conversation with your followers directly. This is a quicker and easier way to respond to messages than replying to an email or DMing them.

Redirecting your followers to a different page

If you want your followers to visit a different page when they’re on your account, you can redirect them there. To do this, head to Settings and scroll down to “ Followers” and select the page you want to redirect to. From here, you can select the option “Website.”

Deletion of your account

If you’ve been using Instagram for a while and have built a nice following, it’s likely that some of your posts have been making the rounds and gaining some traction of their own. But one day, you decide to delete your account. What happens then? You no longer have access to your followers, and all of your posts will be lost! Luckily, there are ways to delete your account without deleting your posts. Before you delete your account, it’s a good idea to perform some cleanup. From here, you can “flag” or “flagging” your posts as missing so that other users can help you out if they find them. You can also “flag” or “reporting” a post as inappropriate. This will help you if someone reposts or likes the post and you want to take it down. Once you’ve done this, you can simply click the “delete” button in the upper-right-hand corner of the post to confirm your intent.

Final Words

Instagram can be a little tricky at times, but with a few tips and tricks, you can delete your account and posts quickly and easily. With a little bit of effort, you can take your account back to how it was before all those followers got in the way.
