Huawei Mate book

The Mate Book series is a line of laptop computers by Huawei. They were originally made accessible on February 21, 2016, on the eve of the launch of the Mobile World Congress. In subsequent years, more models were released, such as when Huawei began offering Deepin as a pre-loaded operating system on some Mate book models in China in September 2019.

Huawei Matebook D15 Design and Features

For starters, instead of the plastic, you’d expect for £600, it features an all-metal chassis. This provides the MateBook a level of durability that few of its rivals can match. It weighs 1.53kg and has a 15.6in screen; combine that with a small 16.9mm height, and this computer is remarkably portable.

Huawei also keeps the PSU weight down to 159g, and it’s a slim affair that’s more like a phone’s power connection. The UK plug’s top prong even folds down for convenient storage. Because the MateBook D 15 lasted only 5 hours and 50 minutes on our video rundown test, you’ll definitely want to pack it in your bag as well. The charging method has the drawback of just having one USB-C 3.1 port, while the further 3 USB ports are Type A. The complete HDMI connector and a 3.5mm combo jack are also provided, although there is no SD card slot or RJ-45 Ethernet adapter. This means you will need to use 802.11ac WiFi.

Huawei Share is also available to Honor and Huawei phone owners. The idea is to touch your phone against the Huawei Share sticker to establish a connection between the two devices, allowing you to swiftly transfer data between them. All of this is tied together by the PC Manager, which is worth using only to keep drivers up to date.

The 256GB SSD is divided into two partitions, C and D, which I propose consolidating into a single disc using Windows’ Disk Management tool (first delete the D partition and then extend the C partition). A 2. 5in SATA drive may also be installed in the chassis, although this is a job best left to specialists. Although this is not a reason for worry, the MateBook’s primary specs are not modifiable.

Pros

  • Outstanding value for money
  • All-metal frame
  • Exceptionally potent (for the price)

Cons

  • Battery life is mediocre
  • Color fidelity is poor.

Conclusion

The Huawei Matebook D 15 is a well-designed, small, and reasonably priced laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500u capable processor. It also has an NFC sharing capability that lets it connect to Huawei smartphones, but the battery life and display quality are both disappointing. Overall, it’s a decently priced laptop that has everything you’ll need to get started.
